Industry and Leadership
In addition to speaking and writing, I have been focusing heavily on providing UX leadership for the startup I work for, where I get to combine my technical design knowledge and agile practices to help build a web app that gives Healthcare Strategists evidence to back their decisions on planning. Notably, I am learning tons about digital cartography and data visualization.
I am a former Member and Communications Committee Member of the Central Pennsylvania chapter of AIGA and former student in Sean McCabe's Master course for Learn Lettering. I'm always learning new ways to help push the web forward.
I recently provided Technical Editing to the fifth edition of Wiley’s Interaction Design book.
Outside of the observation life brings, I keep an eye out on feeds and reads. Designer News, UX insights, Twitter, Pocket, Dribbble, Smashing Magazine and many more are likely open tabs in Chrome on my macbook right now. I enjoy reading Offscreen Magazine, UPPERCASE Mag, Communication Arts Magazine and design books. Most recently I read The Best Interface is No Interface by Golden Krishna as I have been inspired by the #NoUI mindset.
I have attended a few design conferences (Future of Web Apps 2011, TI Conf 2013, An Event Apart 2014, UXPA 2015) and learn on Treehouse, Lynda.com and Skillshare.
